As I write this post, I feel so fortunate to be celebrating the salons 4-year anniversary. I think back to 2020 when I made the decision to open, and If you asked me then if I thought I would achieve this milestone, I honestly think I would have laughed.   When I endeavored down this path, I had my doubts. I wrote out a pros & cons list, and I struggled to come up with a lengthy list of cons. The biggest thing on my con list was, “what If I fail?”. At 20, that question had so much power. Failing was my biggest fear. Rightfully so, there were so many factors against me: my age, experience, client book, the economy, pandemic, and many other things I’m sure I’m forgetting. I asked so many different people what they thought I should do. My mom was working from home at the time and heard my list of pros and cons incessantly. I wanted her to talk me out of it; For her to say that it was a crazy idea, and that I shouldn’t risk it. FORTUNATELY, she didn’t.   She asked, “what’s the worst thing that happens? You fail? At least you can say that you tried.”   This simple question changed everything. It took my most influential con and threw it right to the top of my pro column.   I wouldn’t be celebrating if not for the unbelievable amount of support from my friends, family, and MOST importantly I could not have done it without every amazing human who has trusted me with their hair.   In beauty school they tell you that this industry is about more than just the services we do, but it’s not something they can teach you; It’s something you must experience. In my career, I’ve been honored to be part of so many brides’ special days, ensuring they look and feel like their most beautiful selves. I’ve celebrated every new chapter with my clients, and get to be a confidante when life throws its worst at them.   This year I have done some of the best work of my career. I can’t wait to see what the future holds - all the gorgeous hair, stunning makeup, familiar faces, and new that will join our “hive”.
